3.1 Loading and displaying tools
3.1.3 Re-using windows
By default, the environment always re-uses an existing window if possible. So, if you choose Works > Tools > Editor, an existing editor appears if one has already been loaded. If you prefer, you can configure the environment so that a new tool is created every time you choose one of the options under the Works > Tools submenu.
- 1. Choose Works > Customize from any window.
- Reusable is one of the options displayed on the submenu. By default, this is selected, indicating that the tool or application is re-used.
- 2. Choose Reusable to deselect the option.
- The tool you chose this command from is now no longer reusable. Next time you choose it from the Works > Tools submenu, a new instance of it is created.
- 3. Choose Works > Customize > Reusable again to switch the option back on.
Works > Customize > Global Reuse controls whether or not tools and applications across the whole environment are reused. If this option is not selected, all tools and applications are created afresh whenever they are chosen, and the setting of Works > Customize > Reusable is ignored for individual tools and applications.
