The Grep Browser gives you a convenient way of performing searches on directories or individual files in your filesystem. You can create a Grep Browser by choosing
Window > Tools > Grep Browser
or clicking
in the LispWorks toolbar. Note, however, that it is almost always preferable to invoke the Grep Browser by issuing commands in other tools, for example using
Esc X
grep
in an editor.
Out of necessity, this chapter makes some references to other tools in the environment which you may not yet be familiar with. However, this chapter does not assume any prior knowledge of these tools.
The Grep Browser has the following areas:
Esc X
grep
. You can also enter a suitable command here, or modify the existing command, via
Command > Set Grep Args
and
Command > Set Grep Directory
. The
Command
menu is also available as the context menu in the main area.
